Donate to the Mission

Food drives are always needed for Oak Mountain Missions. All donations of nonperishable food items are needed and especially the following items:

• peanut butter, jelly,
• cereals -- cold or hot (oatmeal, grits, etc.)
• condiments (ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, salad dressings, etc.)
• dried beans (small packages preferred)
• canned meats: (tuna, spam, ham, chicken, etc.)
• canned fruit
• canned vegetables: (sweet potatoes, pumpkin, collards, spinach, mixed vegetables, etc.)
• canned or packaged soup
• rice (small packages preferred)
• pasta: (spaghetti, macaroni, noodles, etc.)
• prepared sauces: (Ragu, Bertolli, Classico, etc.)
• prepackaged meals (Hamburger Helper, Tuna Helper, Macaroni and Cheese, etc.)
• seasonings (salt, pepper, etc.)
• flour and baking needs (cake mixes, brownie mixes, frostings, etc.)
• sugar
• powdered milk
• paper products: (toilet tissue, paper towels, Kleenex, etc.)
• toiletries: (toothpaste, soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, etc.)
• cleaning products (household cleaners)
• laundry detergent
• diapers, pull-ups and wipes for infants and toddlers
• adult pull-ups, particularly plus sizes

Monetary donations to the Mission help us provide food distribution and financial assistance for utilities, medical expenses, and rent. Oak Mountain Mission Ministries is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization so giving not only helps others, it may also offer tax benefits. Here are a few ways to help:

• Donate by Mail: Send a check payable to Oak Mountain Mission Ministries, Inc. via mail to Oak Mountain Mission Ministries Inc., 2699 Pelham Parkway, Pelham, AL 35124. Be sure to include your name and address so that we can acknowledge your gift
• Gifts of stocks and securities: Gifts of stocks and securities, and IRA and mutual fund transfers offer unique tax advantages while helping the Mission. Please contact Roddy Cooper, Director of Oak Mountain Mission at (205)685-5757 about these giving opportunities
• Employer Matched Gifts: Many companies allow employees the opportunity to multiply the impact of their contributions. Companies with such programs will often match employee gifts dollar for dollar. To take advantage of this, contact your company's human resources department for a matching gift form and send to the Mission.
• Donate Online: You can donate to the Mission using a major credit card or PayPal account. Click on the button below to donate now.

Donations of gently worn clothing help the Mission provide clothing for families. The Mission currently needs the following items:

• plus-size clothing for men and women
• clothes for school-age boys
• tennis shoes for children and teens
• shoes for men
• blue jeans for boys and teens

A variety of household items and linens are needed for families. Items should be in good working condition. Items needed include:

• pots and pans
• dishes
• silverware
• queen-size comforters and sheet sets
• vacuum cleaners
• microwave ovens (free standing)
• slow-cookers, coffee makers and small appliances
• towels
• fans
• portable electric heaters

The Mission has an on-going need for furniture, particularly for the items noted below. Furniture should not have any stains, or tears. The Mission does not accept mattresses, bed frames, sleeper sofas, or recliners. Due to limitations, the Mission is not currently able to pick-up donations of furniture. Contact the Mission for additional information.

• end tables
• night stands
• microwave ovens (free standing)

Families are in need of varying other types of support including:

• automobiles - donating a working used car means a client can get and keep a job
• car seats and booster seats

**Note - please help us by not donating knick-knacks, yard sale items or used toys. We have limited storage space and need room for the essentials that our clients need to start over.
