Oak Mountain Missions Ministries, Inc. is a 501c3, non-profit organization that demonstrates the love of Christ by providing food, clothing, furniture, and financial assistance to those in need in Shelby County and the greater Birmingham area.
We would love to have you join us!
We always welcome volunteers,
donations,
and most importantly...
PRAYERS!!!!
In brief, Oak Mountain Missions receives referrals from area churches, domestic violence shelters, homeless shelters, and social service agencies. We provide food, clothing, household items, linens, furniture, and limited financial assistance (for utility bills, rent, and medical expenses). Everything in our warehouse belongs to God, and is given to qualified, screened clients free of charge. In 2011 OMM has served clients 4561 times.
We also offer a morning food ministry. With donations from Edgars Bakeries, Golden Flake, Pepperidge Farm, Publix, Sara Lee, and Starbucks (Hwy 150), we distribute food 4 days a week. Approximately 50,000 people per year benefit from charitable agencies coming to OMM weekly to receive food.
Volunteers pre-bag food for our clients and provide this service on a monthly basis to qualified, screened clients
BLACK BELT MISSION
We work with Congresswoman Sewell's office to coordinate with churches, missions, and community centers in the Black Belt (agricultural) region of Alabama. OMM delivers clothing, usable items and food. This important ministry serves thousands of people each year. During 2011, OMM recently completed our 160th trip since this practice began in January of 2004!

Pray for Oak Mountain Missions
Because of the state of our nation's economy at this time, we have had a record number of requests for help AND for the same reasons we have had a decline in donations of furniture, food, and money. Since 2008, we have seen a growth of 80.8% in clients requesting food assistance.

Ford is a sixth grader at Berry Middle School. He is an active member of Christ Church United Methodist and Boy Scout Troop 5. About 3 weeks ago, he learned from his Minister of Missions, Pam Bates, that the food bank at Oak Mountain Missions was totally depleted. Ford was moved to action and organized a neighborhood food drive in just 3 days. Over 2 weekends, he visited approximately 150 households. Ford either spoke directly to his neighbors who where home or taped flyers to the front doors of those who were not. Although only about one-third of them participated in the drive, Ford was able to collect a total of 609 items for the food bank!
This experience has been such a blessing to his entire family and a true lesson in faith. One of the sweetest moments came when we were sorting the food, and he realized how richly the Lord had blessed his efforts. Ford is convinced that there's no way he collected that many items from those few homes because there were a number of them that had only one or two items by their door. He said to his mom, "Mom, it's kind of like the loaves and the fishes!" Frankly, it really did feel that way. I know Ford looks forward to another opportunity to serve Oak Mountain Missions.
